We, as a team, have outlined the rules by which we will each be held accountable. You have not played by these rules and you did not object to these rules upon posting or in any discussion. The portion you submitted/posted needs work. It is riddled with fragmented sentences and lacks grammatical flow. It is not ready to include into the team assignment. This is not acceptable for a Masters level course. Will let the team weigh in on how we, as a team, would like to handle this situation. Please understand am not being unsympathetic, I am actually being just the Opposite.
There are three other members of the team and e must be able to depend on each other. One member of the team that does not follow the rules or contribute appropriately can have negative consequences for all team members. Team thoughts? Posted by JOHN WORDED at Par 14, 2014, 8:59 AM Last updated Par 14, 2014, 8:59 AM Amy, You are our leader this week and I think we should let you lead the team. Do understand that things happen but, had Pamela been communicating with us would certainly feel much better about allowing her to participate/contribute to the work that was done. With that said, I will defer this decision to you, this week.
Panel’s submission needs work on grammar and sentence structure. I have given her this advice. If she does not correct the grammatical Structure Of her submission we should not include it and should not include her name on the paper. (just my opinion) It feels like she just threw some words together from our work without even thinking about what was being said. Also think that Pamela should be very aware that we are in a Masters level class and that working in a team, taking accountability, being responsible, courteous, professional and contributing to the outcomes are all necessary to be successful. This is a learning opportunity. Ousted by JOHN WORDED at Par 14, 2014, 4:00 PM Last updated Par 14, 2014, 4:00 PM It is not my place to second guess your decision as Our leader this week. As leaders we must make difficult and unpopular decisions. Think this is why it is very important for all team members to get the opportunity to be a team leader. While it may not have been the decision would have made, I respect that you made a decision and respect the decision you made. As leaders we must be careful about the difference between accommodating and enabling. We are in a Masters level class and we should have higher expectations of our classmates and team mates.
To allow a team mate to get by without doing the work is, in my opinion, doing them a disservice. Hope that Pamela can learn from this experience and I sincerely hope that she will be a contributing participant on our team. It should be our intention to help each other learn and be successful. Think you did a great job as the leader of our team. Thank you very much!!!! I have not read it yet but I am about to do my part and add my options. I will have my part of the charter shortly and let you know what I think and will promise you that this will not happen again. I just did not know what was going on because have not been communicating this week but I can promise you this week and the weeks to follow I will check in every night. I am sorry you do not have sympathy for my situation but you also have to understand that am a single parent with two teenage kids and have to do what I can to take care of them.
So even though you do not have sympathy for me I can have sympathy for all of you because I understand the long hours and the events that you have do to make your family happy. I can promise that my communication skills will get much better. Posted by JOHN WORDED at Par 14, 2014, 6:14 PM Last updated Par 14, 2014, 6:14 PM Hi Pamela, Please to not misunderstand my point. I am sympathetic but, have made a choice to earn my MBA at this point in my life and have made significant sacrifices to get this far. There are times in our lives that certain sacrifices cannot be made. Think this is a personal choice.
My point is that you are either in, meaning that you will participate and contribute to the team and the educational experience or not. We are here to help, support and contribute to each others’ success but this does not mean that we do others work for them or give anyone a pass on the learning experience. It is the credibility of this institution that is at stake. If the Look does not produce well educated students, my and all others’ efforts are diminished. With that said, I thank you for taking accountability for the lack of participation and contribution to our team in week 2.
I will trust that you will allow us to learn with you and from you during the rest of the course. I look forward to that. Last updated Par 22, 2014, 2:08 PM Pamela, received some messages from your team members expressing concern over the submission of a second assignment by yourself that was not approved by the others on the team. Further, they expressed that while you did submit information for your portion of the assignment by the deadline on Saturday, it could not be used because it was not correct or complete. They stated they asked you to redo/add information to your portion so that it could be included in the paper, but after not hearing from you, went ahead and completed the portion themselves.
I did review the team forum communications and submissions and they support your team members concerns. When working with a team, simply submitting material and then not checking back in to see if what you submitted met standards puts your team members in a bind. They need to ensure the entire paper meets the assignment requirements and with not knowing when you would check back in again they had to make the decision to move forward on their own and get it completed.
Further, you stated that the second submission of the paper in the Assignment link included your part (and your name was added), however, here was no material difference between what you submitted and what you team had previously submitted. With all this, consider you non-participative in the team assignment this week, and will not award you credit for the assignment. Moving forward, please work with your team to not only complete your portion, but ensure it meets requirements and is suitable for submission. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Re: Week 3 team assignment posted by PAMELA CATCHING (you) at Par 22, 2014, 4:35 PM Last updated Par 22, 2014, 4:35 PM did rewrite my part and I can out line it for you if you like and it much efferent then what they wrote and if you cannot let me be my own team or change my team I will contact the academic affairs department because this is not fair and I stayed up to midnight rewriting my part last not and then had to get up at 3:30 this morning to go to work and be at work at 6 am. I am going to talk to academic affairs if you cannot resolve this problem and move me out of this team somehow.
You can either let me do the assignment by myself to me by own team and I teachers that have done this or you can move me to another team because I cannot handle this anymore. Included some information in the other post, but please be aware that team assignments are worked by the team. Also, after you did not submit your portion timely in the first week, your team members reached out to you (and still included you in the assignment, for which you received credit) to ensure the deadlines would be met starting in the second week and moving forward.
The team charter that was completed by all and submitted to me showed a deadline of midnight, Saturday night for initial submissions of individual portions, to allow time for review, edit, and so on. However, because your oration did not meet the requirements of the assignment, your team members posted a message for you Sunday morning asking you to re-work your portion. By doing this, they were, in essence, allowing you additional time to complete your portion. But again, after they did not hear back from you, had to complete the assignment to meet all requirements.
If you feel you need to contact academic affairs regarding this situation, then you certainly have that right. Private posted by PAMELA CATCHING you) at Par 13, 2014, 7:29 PM Last updated Par 13, 2014, 7:29 PM just wanted to let you know that I have posted my part in my learning team just know but they have already wrote me out as I am not doing my part and it is not even Monday yet. I have been working 7 days 12 hour shifts and it has been really rough to get things done but always come through when I need to.
I just wanted to lately know that I did do my part and I did turn it in to them in case they do not use it. I am very up set on the way they are doing me and I let them know that it bothered me and that my part is there and they can use it. Do not want to loose my points because of them. Did do my part and just because I was a little latter then they wanted me to be they just summed that I was not going to do my part but did and it is there and you can check it if you like I just wanted you to know what was going on.
I hope I am not bothering you but I may be a little slow but I always do my work. Thanks for listening. I am sorry to bother you. Posted by MELINDA GREGG at Par 14, 2014, 2:27 PM Last updated Par 14, 2014, 2:27 PM read through the posts in the team forum and noted that there was a discussion about deadlines for the team assignments, for which you did not respond. If you were not in agreement with the deadlines set forth, then you would speak up, otherwise, your silence is assumed agreement.
With that said, since your team members heard nothing else from you, they had to proceed as though you were not going to participate and completed your portion. I would expect they did not have any idea of your intent to complete your portion, and erred on the side of you not. Your team knows that they cannot submit an incomplete assignment, or else they will lose points. So, how long should they have waited to hear from you to find out if you were going to submit your portion? Hopefully, you can see their viewpoint on how immunization is key in team assignments.
I would suggest a couple of things: address the posts about the deadlines and let your team members know of your situation and see if they might agree to a later day, also, follow through with the stated deadlines, or assume your team members will submit without your portion. Continually communicating with your team members throughout the week is also important, and only posting your portion in the team forum is not considered full participation? Please let me know if you have any questions. Re: Private posted by PAMELA CATCHING (YOU) at Par 14, 2014, 157 PM
Last updated Par 14, 2014, 7:57 PM completely understand what you are saying but I guess that I was not communicating very well with them this week and I must have misunderstood when everything was supposed to be turned in because I just totally missed that part. I had not read the charter yet so I did not under stand that they wanted things in by Saturday night. I am sorry I bothered you but it was bothering me and I was very tired and upset about the whole situation. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and can promise that my communication skills will get much better in the future of this class.
I value my grade and would like to do good in my class and would like to get along with my class mate. Thanks for the information. It was not a bother or inconvenience to me at all. I can certainly understand tattoo had a lot going on with work and your personal life, but wanted to show you your team members’ perspective. Communication is certainly key and I believe the remaining weeks will go smoothly.
