During the past six weeks I have been a physical activity leader (PAL) and have played various games with a range of different students. Each session I chose a differ leadership strategy dependent on the circumstances. These circumstances w loud be things such as; the amount of students I had, the activity I was doing, the age of the students and the time frame I had. Throughout this essay I will critically exam nee the contemporary leadership style/ s I used and how I applied them to the physical activities.
The first leadership principle I am going to critically examine is collaborative. According to the Community Tool Box there are two definitions for collaborative leadership. One definition focuses on collaborative leadership and the other definition focuses s on leading collaboratively. The first definition quotes ” taking a leadership role in a coalition, organization, or other enterprise where everyone is on an equal footing and working together to solve a problem, create something new, or run an organization or initiative.
The leader is not in control of the group, but has responsibility for guiding an coordinating the process by which the group decides upon and carries out act ones to accomplish its goals ” The second definition quotes ” In this case usually in an organizational rather than a coalition or community setting leadership may s haft, by group decision, from one person to another as different talents or abilities AR e called for, or (more often) leadership is permanently shared by all, or several, members group.
Here, there is no one leader: the group functions as a true collaborative e, and guides would agree with the first definition more in my situation of being a PAL and using this leadership style in physical activity.
