If I need further support and advice regarding a serious illness or accident I may consult the National Childbearing Association who will log information regarding the incident with regard to their safeguarding policy. A NCAA designated officer will be assigned to my case and all the information given to them will be kept confidentially unless their appears to be a child protection issue which will be reported accordingly. If an accident or incident involving a child in my care may result in an insurance claim I will contact my public liability insurance provider to discuss y case and be allocated a claim number.
This may involve discussing details Of the child in my care with a third party. In case of an accident as per statutory requirements I am first aid trained and shall provide first aid as appropriate. A first aid box is situated by the entrance next to the coat rack. Permission for first aid, administration of medicines, and visit to the GPO or A&E services is provided by you and recorded on the childcare agreement form. Should a visit to the hospital be deemed necessary I shall accompany the child and leave the other children to the care of (name of children) that revises back up.
When it is safe to do so and the child is under medical care shall contact cannot be reached the emergency contact. If your child is ill with vomiting and diarrhea I would expect you R child not to attend until your child is free of any symptoms for 24 hours. All fees are still payable for this period as per the childcare agreement. Should a child has a minor illness whilst in my care like raised temperature I shall try and comfort the child, provide a quiet environment and administer medication if necessary after the written permission of the parents as per the healthcare agreement.
I shall then contact you and inform you of your child’s illness and in the case of infectious disease shall ask you to collect the child at your earliest convenience. If a child is suffering from a disease as such in the public health regulations 1998 (infectious disease) I will act on advice given by the Health Protection Agency and inform Offset of any action and precautions taken. If or any immediate members of my family has a confirmed infectious disease or illness I will inform all parents immediately as I will not be able to offer my services.

This policy is due for review on the following date Behavior policy and procedure It is my prime concern to offer a happy environment for children under my care where they can develop. I do this in an environment where limits and boundaries are well established and respected using positive discipline methods. I ensure that clear expectations are set for children appropriate for their age. I ensure that I model good behavior and show what is expected of them by displaying it my self first. I reward desired behavior by praise and adaptable reward methods to the child’s interest.
Physical punishment or wreath is not to be used at any time as per safeguarding policy. In case a child is misbehaving shall use an appropriate method for the child’s age like distraction, time out or ignoring the bad behavior. If a child misbehaves I will let you know by either writing it in their daily diary or by ringing you later after collection. Will also inform you of how the matter was dealt with. In most cases the matter will not require any further action, punishing a child hours after an incident achieves nothing but confusion and upset.
If you have any concerns regarding the managing of your child’s behavior, lease do not hesitate to contact me. It is important that we work together on managing behavior in order not to confuse your child. Safeguarding Policy My first responsibility and priority is towards the children in my care. If have any cause for concern will report it to the relevant body, following the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures. Understand that child abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, neglect or a mixture of these, and am aware of the signs and symptoms of these. Hall notify Offset of any allegations of abuse that are alleged to have taken lace while the child is in my care, including any allegations against me, or any members of my family, or other adults or children in my home who have had contact with minded children. If an allegation is made against me I will inform the Local Authority Designated Officer (LOAD). I keep up to date with child protection issues and relevant legislation by taking regular training courses and by reading relevant publications. Eave copies of the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures. Every six months I check that I have the latest version of the relevant procedures (or NY documents that may replace them in the future). Have copies of the relevant booklets and guidance (as outlined in the NCAA booklet Safeguarding Children: a Guide for Children’s and Nannies). I have read them and understand them. If a child tells me that they or another child is being abused, I will: ; Show that I have heard what they are saying, and that I take their allegations seriously. Encourage the child to talk, but I will not prompt them or ask them leading questions. I will not interrupt when a child is recalling significant events and will not make a child repeat their account. ; Explain what actions must take, in a way that is appropriate to the age and understanding of the child. ; Record what I have been told using exact words where possible. Make a note of the date, time, place and people who were present at the discussion. Will call the local social services’ duty desk for advice and an assessment of the situation. Will follow this phone call up with a letter to the Duty team within 48 hours. I will record the concern and all contact with Children’s Services thereafter. If an allegation is made against me, any member of my family or any other adult or child in my setting will report it to Offset and social services, following the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures.
I will also contact Mama’s Information Line for advice and support. In all instances I will record: ; the child’s full name and address ; the date and time of the record ; factual details of the concern, for example bruising, what the child said, who was present ; details of any previous concerns details of any explanations from the parents ; any action taken such as speaking to parents. It is not my responsibility to attempt to investigate the situation myself.
